Confession and Forgiveness

In the name of the Father, and of the +Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our

sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our

sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and

Lord.

Amen

Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

(Silence is kept for reflection.)

Most merciful God,

We confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have

sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by

what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have

not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ,

have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in

your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin, and made us alive

together with Christ. By grace you have been saved. In the name of +Jesus Christ,

your sins are forgiven. Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy

Spirit, that Christ may live in your hearts through faith.

Amen.

Gathering Hymn # 516 “Almighty God, Your Word Is Cast”

1. Almighty God, your word is cast like seed into the ground;

now let the dew of heaven descend and righteousness fruits abound.

2. Let not the sly satanic foe this holy seed remove,

but give it root in every heart to bring forth fruits of love.

3. Let not the world’s deceitful cares the rising plant destroy,

but let it yield a hundredfold the fruits of peace and joy.

4. So when the precious seed is sown, life-giving grace bestow,

that all whose souls the truth receive its saving power may know.

L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy

Spirit be with you all.

C: And also with you.

L: Let us pray:

O God, you are the tree of life, offering shelter to all the world. Graft us into

yourself and nurture our growth, that we may bear your truth and love to those

in need, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Sermon

(Please Stand)

Hymn # 449 “We Know that Christ is Raised” st. 1,2, 4

1. We know that Christ is raised and dies no more.

Embraced by death, he broke its fearful hold,

and our despair he turned to blazing joy. Hal—le—lu—jah!

2. We share by water in his saving death.

Reborn, we share with him an Easter life,

as living members of our Savior Christ. Hal—le—lu—jah!

3. A new creation comes to life and grows

as Christ’s new body takes on flesh and blood.

The universe restored and whole will sing: Hal—le—lu—jah!

L: Together with the whole church, we confess our faith:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,

God’s only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

He is seated at the right hand of the Father,

And he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen

The Prayers

L: . . .Lord, in your mercy,

C: Hear our prayer.

Offering

Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us

our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and

the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Hymn #679 “For the Fruit of All Creation”

1. For the fruit of all creation, thanks be to God.

For these gifts to every nation, thanks be to God.

For the plowing, sowing, reaping, silent growth while we are sleeping.

Future needs in earth’s safe keeping, thanks be to God.

2. In the just reward of labor, God’s will is done.

In the help we give our neighbor, God’s will is done.

In our worldwide task of caring for the hungry and despairing,

in the harvests we are sharing, God’s will is done.

3. For the harvests of the Spirit, thanks be to God.

For the good we all inherit, thanks be to God.

For the wonders that astound us, for the truths that still confound us,

most of all, that love has found us, thanks be to God.

L: Go in peace. Serve the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.
