We have begun our 40 day journey with Jesus to the cross and resurrection. This season is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual renewal and growth, a chance to be refreshed or make a new start in our relationship with God.

On Ash Wednesday, Pastor Chris introduced an ancient Christian spiritual practice called a 'rule of life'. The word 'rule' comes from the Latin word regula which refers to a trellis, or structure for the growth of a vine. A 'rule of life' is simply a way to provide structure and support for our spiritual growth. It is the set of practices and values that enable us to grow in our relationship with Jesus and bear fruit for the kingdom of God. We'll be exploring this idea more through the season. The handout shared on Ash Wednesday is linked here, so you can think about what provides structure and support for your relationship with God. Pastor Chris recommends this very short video (linked here) about a 'rule of life' by teacher John Mark Comer. There is also a free "Rule of Life Builder" at his organization's website which is pretty cool: https://www.practicingtheway.org/ruleoflifebuilder. |
