Proposed amendment to St. Andrew Constitution
A revision to Section C5.05.04 was submitted to Council by two members of the congregation on September 10. The congregation will decide at the annual meeting on November 12 whether to ratify this amendment or not.
Proposed Revision to Section C5.05.04
It is the policy of St. Andrew Lutheran Church that any undesignated bequest or memorials received by the congregation shall be distributed as follows: 60% (sixty percent) of an undesignated be-quest or memorial to the Perpetual Outreach Endowment and 40% (forty percent) at the discretion of the congregational council, either to the Perpetual Outreach Endowment, or to other needs or benevolences of the congregation.
The question is where and how to support life changing programs. Now that the POE is substantially funded, the proponents of this amendment see a long term need to continue to reinvest a little more than we have been able in our property and overall appearance to help bring more people to this life changing ministry. This amendment has no impact on funds already in the POE, Managed Asset Account, or money market fund, only future bequests.
