Fifth Sunday of Easter

10:00 AM Service May 15, 2022

GATHERING

Prelude

Welcome and Announcements

Ringing of the Bell

(Please Stand)

Confession and Forgiveness

L: Blessed be the holy Trinity, +one God, whose steadfast love endures forever.

C: Amen.

L: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

(silence is kept for reflection)

L: Most merciful God,

C: we confess that we have not followed your path but have chosen our own way. Instead of putting others before ourselves, we long to take the best seats at the table. When met by those in need, we have too often passed by on the other side. Set us again on the path of life. Save us from ourselves and free us to love our neighbors. Amen.

L: Hear the good news! God does not deal with us according to our sins but de-lights in granting pardon and mercy. In the name of + Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven. You are free to love as God loves.

C: Amen.

L: Alleluia! Christ is risen!

C: He is risen, indeed. Alleluia!

L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion

of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C: And also with you.

This is the feast...

L: Let us pray:

All: O Lord God, you teach us that without love, our actions gain nothing. Pour into our hearts your most excellent gift of love, that, made alive by your Spirit, we may know goodness and peace, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS

P: I invite you, together with the whole congregation, to confess the faith in which we have been baptized.

All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I

believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived

by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius

Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, He is seated

at the right hand of the Father, And he will come to judge the living and

the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the

communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the

body, and the life everlasting. Amen

P: You have made public profession of your faith. . . . Let us welcome them

together:

C: We rejoice with you in the Christian life. Together we will give thanks

and praise to God and proclaim the good news to all the world.

P: Let us pray: We thank you Lord, for these new members of this congregation

of your people. By your life-giving power, bind us to each other in you,

strengthen us for service, guide and help us to carry out your mission, and

bring us at length to that day when all your children will be one and you will
