The Season of Advent
Happy New Year! The Church Year begins anew with the first Sunday of Advent on December 2. Twice each year we observe a season of preparation: Advent in preparation for Christmas, and Lent in preparation for Easter. It can be helpful to differentiate these two seasons of preparation, especially since Lent is the longer and better-known season. One resource suggested that if Lent is a “housecleaning” season, then Advent is a “housewarming” season– as the carol “Joy to the World” implores us: “Let every heart prepare him room!”

Advent Wednesdays
December 5, 12 & 19
The roles of the Messiah—King—Prophet—Priest
Come at 6 PM and Enjoy Soup and Cornbread, and then stay for the 7 PM Advent Service.

Christmas Eve Service 7pm

WELCA Bible study and Christmas luncheon
Wednesday, December 19, in the Fellowship hall. December brings a devotional entitled Fear Not. What are some fears you face? What steps do you take to deal with these fears? After Bible Study led by Pastor Paul, we will enjoy a potluck luncheon.
Then the suspense that has been building all year about who your secret prayer pal is will be revealed. You are asked to bring one of your favorite food dishes to share and then a small gift for your secret prayer pal. This is always a fun time sharing a meal together and revealing the identity of our prayer pals.
